Ernst Wilhelm, Maler, * Berlin 11. 6. 1902, ✝ Köln 8. 4. 1968; Schüler von K. Hofer, begann mit landschaftlichen und figürlichen Darstellungen, die von Expressionismus und Kubismus beeinflusst sind. Die Auseinandersetzung mit dem Werk R. Delaunays führte ihn zur reinen Abstraktion. Seit den 50er-Jahren malte er gegenstandslose Bilder von lebhafter Farbigkeit. Den Höhepunkt seines Schaffens bilden die zwischen 1955 und 1964 entstandenen »Scheibenbilder« (eng aneinander gereihte Farbflecken von großer Leuchtkraft).
